Our first residential produced a real scouting outcome

Finn's story

Finn had attended several of our showcases, each time building his understanding of what scouts are looking for. He took that further at our residential, pushing himself across a full week of academy-standard training.

“Being in that environment helped me grow massively — my decision-making improved, my confidence on the ball increased, and I learned how to adapt quickly to different systems.”

Finn, on our first residential

On the final day, he was scouted by West Ham United.

Looking after your son

Most parents want to know how the week is run before they book. Open any section for the detail.
Who is on site, and how many staff

On site throughout the week are our Head of Camp, an assistant Head of Camp and chaperones. We usually have one member of staff for every five players. All staff are DBS checked, and our Head of Camp is the designated safeguarding lead.

We collect medical needs and allergies before camp and check them in with you, so the staff know about them from the first day.

Our staff are on site to make everyone feel at home. We break the ice on day one, so players start the week knowing each other, and many leave with new friends. If a player feels homesick, the Head of Camp talks it through with him and with you, and we keep you updated.

We confirm drop-off and pick-up times once your place is booked and closer to the date. On arrival there is an introduction, and a parent send-off once the players have been shown to their rooms.

We keep phones away for most of the day, so players don’t go to bed on their phones. They are not used at meals or during training. Players have their phones at set times, so you can contact them, and you can always contact the Head of Camp.

Rooms are mostly singles and doubles. Players can choose to share with a friend, and we encourage new friendships where rooms are shared. Players are split into two groups, 11–13s and 14–16s.
Halal and vegetarian meals are served. We collect any other requirements, such as dairy, before camp.

We don’t accept bullying or anti-social behaviour at camp. Players who behave this way can be sent home.

How the camp runs

The week is built around a coaching team with academy and professional experience, so players are taught the way clubs teach. Each day has the same shape, which is what lets players improve in five days.

A day at camp

1. Breakfast

2. Strength and conditioning session

Group shape: build and press. An introduction, then a high-intensity session.

3. Lunch

4. IDP-focused positional units

Small-group work, and individual development plan work on what each player needs to improve.

5. Pool recovery

6. IDP session with one-to-ones

Coaches go through what the player has worked on and give feedback.

7. Dinner

8. Free time or a planned activity
